Description

Weyerhaeuser’s planermill in Grande Prairie, Alberta is looking to add qualified millwrights to our current trades group.  Experience with planers will be a real asset, but wood products / industrial background is required as a minimum.  Qualified candidates will be committed to safely delivering troubleshooting, repair and maintenance in an industrial environment.

We are also potentially looking for 3rd or 4th year apprentice millwrights with the right experience, along with those who are looking for shift work schedules.

Grande Prairie is situated four hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta. It is the seventh largest city in the province with a population of just over 55,000 people. Grande Prairie is the “HUB” of the Peace Country enjoying a beautiful four season climate. Visitors alike enjoy a small-town atmosphere with year-round opportunities for recreation in and around the city.

Key Functions:

  • Troubleshooting equipment mechanical issues
  • Preventative maintenance on key machine centres
  • Planer alignments, adjustments, improvements
  • General equipment repairs
  • Project related work

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial or Red Seal ticketed millwright (or 3rd / 4th year apprentice)
  • Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and Policy and the Site Principles
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • A positive approach to conducting assigned tasks and interactions with others
  • A willingness to develop new skills and improve the level of performance as requirements and expectations change over time.
  • The ability to take the initiative for the completion of their work tasks and skill development
