Weyerhaeuser Canada of Edson has a great opportunity for a Process Control Technician within their OSB (Oriented Strand Board) facility. As a Process Control Technician, you will be able to take a lead role in safety, environment, customer, and quality issues.
An integral member of the site leadership team, you will undertake assignments that challenge and broaden your existing knowledge as you lead and support the OSB Edson Plant’s electrical, quality and operational groups in the process control field and with world class optimization systems. You will also work with companywide process control team resources to promote and ensure consistent standards. Aside from technical skills in such areas as Industrial Process Control design and resources development, the successful candidate will also possess valuable capabilities in project leadership/management, training, and strategic and capital planning, to name a few. The mill PLC’s are Allen Bradley ControlLogix and our HMI’s are Wonderware InTouch.

Key Functions:
- Take a leadership role by identifying safety opportunities and using tools such as RADAR.
- Promotes the use of Process Reliability concepts throughout the mill.
- Ensures the accuracy of records and appropriate documentation in respect to process.
- Must become familiar with concepts of Process Control and be able to interpret process data. After
- becoming proficient in the above routine duties this person will look for improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- A confident communicator and self-starter, you bring to the role a relevant recognized degree or diploma and a minimum of 5 years’ of related experience (preferred) that has encompassed PLC and HMI programming.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to think logically and critically with good analytical skills.
- Able to adjust quickly to changing conditions and multiple priorities. Organized with continuous improvement orientation. Able to train less skilled employees.
- Committed to maintaining high safety and work standards.
- Knowledge of statistical methods is an asset.
