We are looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals to work as part of a respected Woodlands team responsible for supplying fibre to our Whitecourt and Fox Creek mills while upholding progressive, sustainable forest management practices.Each of the following positions starts May 1, 2017, and offers great development opportunities and career potential.

Planning Forester – (1)  8-month termTo assist with road and block layout and design, stream assessments, evaluation of wildlife features, quality control,as well as assist in other planning related roles.

Silviculture Assistants – (1) 4-month term and  (2) 8-month terms To supervise and oversee quality control of tree planting operations; assist with conifer-release spray programs and planting-stock quality monitoring; conduct various Silviculture surveys and permanent sample plot measurements.

Forest Technician Crew – (2) 4-month termsTo perform forest protection duties as part of our Helitack firefighting unit; assist with harvest, planning and silviculture operations including block and road layout, mountain pine beetle surveys, log-haul checks, quality control, GPS data collection, reclamation, data entry and saw work.

Roads and Log Haul Assistant – (1) 4-month termTo assist with road maintenance activities, crossing and road inspection program and associated roles.

The ideal candidatesCandidates should be enrolled in, or graduates of, a post-secondary forest or forest technology program. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills would be highly valued.  A valid Alberta Class 5 license is required.
