Hi everyone! I’ve had a great time writing this blog for the last couple years and traveling the province talking about forestry with high school students. I think I’ve taught people a lot, but also learned way more than I thought I would. After almost 100,000kms, speaking with tens of thousands of 15-25 year olds about career opportunities, and spreading the good news story of the forest industry, I think it’s time I do a little hand off and let someone else take the reigns. It’s time for a changing of the guard.

THE OLD PERSON (ME)
I came into this position as the Work Wild coordinator with a background in forestry. I grew up in a small town enjoying everything about the outdoors. I had a forestry education, forestry work experience and very little communications knowledge. I had to learn very quickly how to speak in public and how to be a teacher. It was a pretty steep learning curve, and I found I loved being in front of people speaking about what I’m most passionate about; the forest. I loved talking about how other people could get involved in forestry like I did, and get as much meaning from their career.

THE NEW PERSON
The person that will be taking over from me has a vastly different background. She grew up in the city and has a communications and teaching background, but not much knowledge about the forest industry. We do have something in common. We both want to help young people find a career that they’ll love, and we’re both very passionate of making sure our forests continue to grow and be managed sustainably. I’d like to introduce the new Work Wild coordinator, Ann!

MEET ANN

Ann will be taking you on a slightly different journey learning about the forest industry because she’s learning about it right now. She’ll be able to share with you insights in to what she’s discovering and how it can help you find a career you’ll be happy with. Feel free to ask her lots of hard questions about the forest!

I’ll continue writing blogs and you can always contact me if you have any questions. Check back often and find out what Ann and I are learning!
