Hello all. It’s been a while since I’ve posted on the site, and I just wanted to let you know why… it’s because I’m famous!
That’s me in that commercial, talking about how working in forestry will change the way you see your job. It’s not just a job when you’re working in our industry, it’s a way of life. Everyone I’ve met who works in the forest industry has a passion for the environment and understands the difference they’re making EVERY SINGLE DAY. I think my passion for my job came across in that video, and because of that, fan mail* is pouring in from across the globe.
“Hi. I think you’re the best looking person I’ve ever seen on television, and because of that I’m going to work in forestry just in case I get to meet you! Oh yeah, and I like trees and stuff.” ~ Sasha from Whitecourt.
“Hey! I saw your commercial while I was watching The Voice on CTV. I just want to say that some of those huge machines you showed looked pretty awesome and I think I’d like to change up my career path a little and maybe operate something like that. It would be awesome to have control over something with so much power and know that my skills on that machine could impact how much money the company makes. Also, you look like a really cool person and I think we would be friends if we met.” ~ Steve from Calgary.
“Hi Cam. Driving a quad for work sounds like the best thing since Facebook. I’m in.” ~ Sabrina from Grande Prairie. “P.S. We should date ;)”
“I don’t even know what that commercial was about because I was lost in your eyes. I will do anything you say.” ~ Kim from Edmonton.
I wouldn’t say I’m an overly special actor or anything (I am, by the way). Everything I said in that commercial is truly how I feel. I really believe that people who work in the forest industry have more fulfilling lives because they know they’re doing everything they can to have a healthy forest. I can rest easy at night knowing that people who work in forestry don’t just contribute to the environment, but also help their communities thrive. Working a consistent shift in the forest industry means you have lots of time to invest in your community and your family. No leaving home to make the big bucks!
I really enjoyed the opportunity to make a commercial. Don’t worry. The fame hasn’t gone to my head. I was able to buy myself a sweet Christmas present though.
