The final video in the Alberta Forest Products Association’s #Foresters campaign was released yesterday! We’ve seen six videos in six weeks and so many examples of the knowledge that forest management professionals possess. If you have not seen the first five videos in the series, take a look at our last few blog posts to catch up.
This week Kris Kennedy, woodlands manager with Boucher Bros. Lumber, is featured. Kris highlights the importance of good planning, which benefits Alberta’s forest companies and all Albertans.
As Kris says, “Everything we do has a plan.” Through science and the use of cutting edge technology, plans are developed on a 200-year timeline. These plans must consider environmental, social, and economic factors. All of these components are crucial to keeping the forest healthy and the industry sustainable.
Kris mentions his main drive to attend forest technology school at NAIT was his love of the forest. This love keeps him going through long, tough workdays. Many Albertans have a similar appreciation of the forest. Additionally, Alberta has 70 forest communities and 57,000 people are employed directly and indirectly as a result of the industry.
