Blue Ridge Lumber/Ranger Board Bursary Program - Work Wild

To assist local students in pursuing their education at a post-secondary institution, Blue Ridge Lumber and Ranger Board annually make two $1,000.00 bursaries available to high school graduates from the Mayerthorpe, Barrhead or Whitecourt areas. Blue Ridge Lumber and Ranger Board invite applications from high school graduates who meet the following criteria:

  • Entering a post secondary education program that could lead to a career in the forest products industry, for example: forestry, engineering or business administration
  • Complete an essay providing specifics about the program they are entering and why they have chosen the program
  • Demonstrated involvement in extra curricular activities at school and/or within the community

Application form is available at each high school office and must be completed and returned to the Payroll Department at Blue Ridge Lumber/Ranger Board, no later than May 1. A copy of the most recent academic transcript must accompany the application and enrollment in a post-secondary education institution must be confirmed before the award is granted.

The selection committee will evaluate applicants and determine the appropriate level of financial support. The selection process will include consultation with the principals at the high schools from which applicants are received.

  • Available to students in the Whitecourt area
