As one of our Wildfire Rangers, you will use your knowledge of fire behaviour and prevention, fuel types, firefighting techniques, and forest ecology to facilitate and participate in wildfire prevention, operations, detection, and forest management programs. This will include assisting with wildfire detection, enforcement, education, engineering, pre-suppression, and suppression activities as well as the supervision and coordination of seasonal wildland firefighting crews to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of wildfire suppression activities. You will be coordinating fire situation communication and planning, issuing fire permits, investigating wildfire causes, completing hazard assessments, enforcing legislation, participating in Fire Smart community projects and maintaining Wildfire Management facilities such as lookout towers. Additionally, you will assist in forest management planning, inspections and timber production monitoring. Your formal education will assist you in this position but it will be your passion to grow and excel in the field and with our organization that will see you truly succeed.

Qualifications: A two-year diploma in Forestry or a related field plus a minimum of three years of directly related wildfire or forest management experience is required. Supervisory experience will be considered an asset. Please note that candidates must be eligible for registration with either the College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists or College of Alberta Professional Foresters. Equivalencies will be considered (directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience).

Salary: $2,150.48 – $2,734.23 bi-weekly ($56,127 – $71,363 annually)
