The Mill Reliability Leader has overall responsibility for mill reliability improvement, asset integrity, and preservation.  This includes management of the reliability engineering teams and responsibility of the Pressurized Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS).  This manager ensures processes are in place that enables the Mill Maintenance organization to preserve the assets and ensure these assets provide safe, legal, reliable and efficient operation.  Additionally, the Mill Reliability Leader shares responsibility with the Mill Capital Manager for the planning and implementation of maintenance capital projects that support these objectives.  This position will report to the Maintenance Manager in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership that ensures a safe, productive, engaged organization.
  • Ensures individuals in the reliability organization and any of their contractors follow established mill safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure engineers are knowledgeable of laws, recognized standards and company policies that govern mill equipment safety and operation and the applicable sections are followed.
  • Ensures inspection and repair processes are accomplished and documented so that mill equipment conforms to standards, company policies and governing laws/regulations to ensure safe, legal and reliable operation.
  • Develops and manages systems to maintain mill equipment records and standards.
  • Improves mill reliability through the disciplined application of the company GMS Elements.  Primary to this role is Equipment Care (BC, PM, PdM), Facility Preservation, Lubrication, Precision Practices (MPM, IEPM, EPD), RCFA and Reliability Certification.
  • Ensures equipment maintenance strategies are developed and kept current based on the most recent knowledge.
  • Selects develops and manages the performance of the individuals in the reliability improvement organization to meet objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains a recruitment and development strategy for reliability engineers.
  • Builds and maintains a 5-year maintenance repair plan that includes capital and expense budgets and meets both mill and company objectives.
  • Shares responsibility with area managers and area maintenance managers for maintenance budget planning and control.
  • Support capital team in development and implementation of capital projects with technical support from reliability and asset preservation engineers.
  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with other mill teams, business staff, company subject matter experts and any other people or organizations that may contribute to the achievement of objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a solid understanding of engineering and reliability fundamentals.
  • Minimum of 10 years of reliability and project engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing, plant maintenance, and engineering organization.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a paper mill is required.
  • Working with a contract maintenance organization is a plus.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, effective communication skills at all levels of the organization and excellent computer skills.
