Millar Western’s Fox Creek Wood Products Division is seeking a Site QC Optimization Specialist. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of mechanical and process control optimization systems to ensure a consistent product that meets or exceeds quality standards while maximizing value and resource utilization. He or she will identify, implement and evaluate performance improvements through the application and audit of quality control procedures and standards that ensure accurate and relevant information feedback on machine center efficiency, log processing and recovery, lumber quality, size, species, and mill conversion factors.

The ideal candidate: Qualified applicants will have previous lumber manufacturing experience and a valid lumber grading ticket. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual focused on safety and reliability excellence. They will be familiar with applicable software (eg. Autocad, MS Word, and Excel), and possess strong troubleshooting skills, electrical and mechanical aptitude and understanding of scanning, optimization and processing systems. Previous PLC experience would be an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work effectively within a group and motivate others.
