Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and supportive team player for the role of Log Haul Transportation Specialist in our Woodlands Transportation business unit.

The Log Haul Transportation Specialist is responsible for managing fiber transportation to multiple mill sites, and to ensure that production, quality, environmental and legal requirements are met in a safe and cost-effective manner. This is a full time, permanent position located at our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

• Transportation Administration & Operations: Schedule and monitor mill deliveries up to 3.5 million cubic meters annually. Work closely with Operations and Logistics Teams to develop and implement delivery schedules. Evaluate, improve, and implement new transportation strategies. Work closely with local quota holders to integrate and optimize haul plans.

• Budgeting & Planning: Schedule and monitor mill deliveries up to 3.5 million cubic meters annually. Manage costs through monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and process improvement initiatives

• Contract & Stakeholder Management: Manage contracts to meet mill delivery requirements. Manage contracts to meet agreement: production, safety, and regulatory expectations. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and promote local aboriginal initiatives

Education & Experience:

• University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry
• Active Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Forest Technician (RFT) (Or eligible for Alberta certification)
• Minimum of 5 years’ woodlands operations experience focused on forestry operations and transportation. (Forestry Planning, Harvest, Log/Chip Haul, Road Construction, Reclaim, Silviculture)
• Experience developing and managing of new and existing contractors considered an asset
• Logistics management background, preferably in forestry operations, considered an asset

Knowledge & Skills:

• Understanding of legislative requirements (Transportation, Solicitor General, Forest Management in Alberta and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act)
• Familiar with truck management systems (GPS technologies and On-Board Computers)
• Understanding of First Nations culture, and expectations related to economic development, considered an asset
• Ability to excel in high-pressure environments
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
