PLANNING FORESTER
Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Planning Forester will be primarily responsible for harvest planning activities within assigned areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop forest harvest plans through the detailed field assessment of timber types, landforms, watercourses and landuse features
- Incorporate wildlife and other environmental values into harvest area designs.
- Complete all necessary field work including cutblock and road layout.
- Consult stakeholders with interests in plan development areas.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forester Tech (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation).
- Strong focus on safety.
- Be a dynamic, career-minded individual.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Considered an Asset:
- Preference will be given to candidates with 3-5 years of related experience.
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, GPS and Land Resource Manager software.
