PLANNING FORESTER

Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Planning Forester will be primarily responsible for harvest planning activities within assigned areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop forest harvest plans through the detailed field assessment of timber types, landforms, watercourses and landuse features
  • Incorporate wildlife and other environmental values into harvest area designs.
  • Complete all necessary field work including cutblock and road layout.
  • Consult stakeholders with interests in plan development areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forester Tech (RPFT) designation for Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation).
  • Strong focus on safety.
  • Be a dynamic, career-minded individual.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Considered an Asset:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, GPS and Land Resource Manager software.
