Our Hinton Division is seeking individuals with strong technical, leadership, planning, organization and interpersonal skills to fill the following position:

MACHINE SUPERINTENDENT

This is a leadership position providing guidance to the pulp machine department. The individual is also part of the superintendent team which helps to develop and implement programs to meet the goals of Hinton Pulp.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a safe work environment for the mill
  • Provide leadership for the pulp machine by being a role model in all areas including safety, working relationships, quality and training
  • Utilize established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of Hinton Pulp (costs, overtime, absenteeism, employee performance)
  • Provide maintenance supervisors & planners with the tools and manpower to keep their areas equipment reliable
  • Develop, implement, monitor and report on systems for: personnel development, system design, cost control and equipment availability

The successful candidate must have:

  • Completion of an Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution; other disciplines may be considered
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience on a pulp or paper machine is required
  • Minimum of 3 years proven leadership experience as a supervisor
  • Be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form with all levels of the organization
  • Have good problem-solving and project management skills
