West Fraser’s Alberta Plywood Division, located in Edmonton AB has an immediate opening for a highly motivated:

CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN 

Our employees enjoy a balanced mix of field and office work, while being home every night.

Duties include:

  • Ensure operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting problems on all manufacturing equipment, programmable controllers, transformers,  and machinery wiring; following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
  • Repair and replace as necessary electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring, inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery
  • Control downtime by continual improvement on all plywood manufacturing equipment.
  • Prepare electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Make recommendations as necessary for improvements
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety and housekeeping practices, and use of personal protective equipment
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Maintain documentation as required by Electrical Safety Authority
  • Perform quality checks on all work performed
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed Certified Industrial Electrician
  • Minimum 2-4 years previous experience in a manufacturing industry
  • Good working knowledge of PLC’s, wiring, legislated standards
  • Troubleshooting skills

Our ideal candidate possesses:

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson electrical certification (fourth year apprentices will also be considered)
  • Ability to read blue prints, plans and schematics
  • Electrical aptitude; excellent problem solving skills
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe work place
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Flexible schedule in order to work day, evening, graveyard and weekend shifts 12Hr. shifts

Considered a strong asset:

  • Previous experience working in a sawmill, planer mill or with forest products
  • A Red Seal Certificate
  • High understanding of Allen Bradley Servo Drives, VFD Drives HMI programming Control logics, knowledge of hydraulics systems.
