Foothills Forest Products is a manufacturer of quality dimensional lumber and wood pellets in Grande Cache, Alberta. We are presently have a permanent, full-time position for a:
FORKLIFT OPERATOR
(Primarily Shipping Forklift; also Sawmill Outfeed and Kilns)
Pre-requisites for the position:
- Candidates with previous experience in a similar position will be given preference.
- You have performed safely, efficiently and with very good/reliable attendance in current and previous positions. You must successfully complete the Rail Car Safety Training and consistently comply with these standards.
- The successful candidate will work a rotating shift of Days and Nights once fully trained.
- You have the ability to work with a cross shift operator in organizing the lumber yard.
- You have the ability to operate forklifts and bucket loaders, safely, efficiently and at the expected rate of productivity, handling a variety of products.
- You must be able to avoid property damage to the mobile equipment and all surrounding people, structures, vehicles, fire hydrants and other assets.
- You must be able to learn basic maintenance on the mobile equipment.
- You must be able to interface with truck drivers and other staff (Office, Planer, Mobile Shop) in a friendly and effective manner.
- Job duties include but are not limited to: loading lumber trucks and rail cars; off-loading the planer; re-entry of product, and yard clean-up. The incumbent may be required to build and unload Kiln charges, load the planer and sawmill roll case.
Safety on mobile equipment is paramount. The successful candidate is expected to follow all mobile equipment safe work procedures and demonstrate a good knowledge of safety and safe work performance in his/her current role.
