Background
Weyerhaeuser Grande Prairie Timberlands is accepting applications for an Operational Planning Forester position. The successful candidate will be part of a professional team of three who are responsible for all facets of work required to successfully develop harvest plans and obtain their provincial approval from the province. A annual harvest volume of approximately 1.5 million cubic meters supports a sawmill and a kraft pulp mill.
Job Overview and Desirable Skills
The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in safety, and the ability to obtain registration with the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals.
Core duties involve stakeholder interface with other landbase users including First Nations groups, trappers and interested members of the public. The position reports through the Operational Planning/Strategic Planning group leader. Qualifications
- Three to five years experience in forest planning and forest harvest operations in Canada is desirable
- The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships,communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with ESRI GIS software.
