Northland Forest Products Ltd. is a family run sawmill located a few minutes north of Ft McMurray, Alberta.  Over the past 40 years we have operated a sawmill and planermill continually upgrading with new technology. Due to our recent growth we require the position of:

Electrician

To be part of our electrical team and to ensure, as a key member of the maintenance team, that all work is done to ensure optimal mill performance while maintaining the highest standard and regard for team safety.

This position requires a wide range of electrical and electronic device knowledge. Understanding the unique variability’s of a sawmill is critical. This is a non union environment and teamwork is encouraged to establish a positive work environment.

Duties:

  • To engage and assist in the development of a preventative and predicative maintenance plan and ensure that the electrical maintenance team follows the plan and is accountable to it
  • Coordinate the planned work with the mechanical lead and ensure both maintenance and production targets are being met
  • Maintain a safe and collaborative work environment
  • Understand and interpret A/B PLC programs
  • Understand and be able to troubleshoot Allen Bradley MCC’S, PLC’S and AC/DC drives
  • Troubleshoot various models of VFDS
  • Networking and communication experience an asset
  • Be familiar with, and have working knowledge of, lumber scanning systems , USNR, Perceptron, Comact, MPM, Prologic
  • Perform work within guidelines of “Alberta Electrical Code” and adhere to all required Government regulations , and health and safety
  • Actively involved in “continuous improvement projects”
  • Arrange tools, replacement parts and equipment in electrical room as required to maintain operations

 

Required Skills :

  • Journeyman Electrician Alberta or (Interprovincial)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a sawmill or comparable manufacturing facility
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with a desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal and external business conditions.

Compensation :

  • To be determined relative to experience.
  • Consideration for moving allowance or shift flexibility
