Role

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, dependable and outdoor-oriented individuals to lead our Junior Forest Ranger (JFR) crews.

The JFR program is an exciting seven-week summer work experience youth program, with a forestry and natural resource management focus. The program fosters an appreciation, awareness, and respect for our natural resources through exposure to work projects, natural resource management and career awareness opportunities in this field.

There is one leader position available and one sub leader position available for each JFR crew.

Crew Leader ($23.54/hr)

The primary responsibilities of the leader will include:

  • Supervision and direction of a sub leader and a crew of eight crew members
  • Developing and implementing safety standards and procedures
  • Designing and supervising a safe, rewarding work and educational program schedule
  • Organizing training, evaluations, and addressing any situations with staff
  • Promoting team building and the outdoor experience.

Crew Sub Leader ($22.76/hr)

The primary responsibilities of the Sub Leader will include:

  • Coordinating camp activities
  • Projecting and conducting maintenance and inventory inspections of all equipment
  • Assist with the direction and supervision of all work projects, recreational outings and general camp situations
  • Implementing safety standards and procedures
  • Promoting team building and the outdoor experience.
