PURCHASING & STORES SUPERVISOR

SCOPE

The Purchasing & Stores Supervisor participates as a member of the Division’s Leadership Team, is responsible for the development and management of the supply chain process to ensure production needs are met, Corporate and Mill policies are maintained, maximum value is received and supplier agreements are competitive in the marketplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Supports & participates in the Health & Safety program
  • Identify opportunities for leverage and best practice sharing
  • Provide direction for optimal inventory levels, cost control & savings, risk management, process improvement & KPI targets
  • Communicate with other divisions and corporate to leverage buying power
  • Provide leadership through the coaching of all employees under your direction
  • Develop and document procedures and workflow processes
  • Negotiate, manage and monitor supplier contracts
  • Develop and maintain long term vendor relationships
  • Maintain the computerized purchasing and inventory control system

SUPERVISION & RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Financial Manager
  • Supervises Store purchasing, shipping and receiving
  • Coordinates with corporate purchasing
  • Key supplier relationship development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an industry recognized purchasing designation, preferably SCMP.
  • A minimum of five (5) years purchasing experience, preferably in a pulp mill or related forestry industry
  • At least five (5) years supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Change Management Skills (Initiating, facilitating and implementing change)
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong decision making
