PAYROLL & ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT                       (ONE YEAR CONTRACT)

The role will support the Administration team by providing assistance to both the Accounts Payable Clerk and Payroll and Benefits Coordinator. In addition, you will collaborate with the different department managers in the administration of the mill’s safety program.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:Accounts payable and administration related duties:• Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages• File records as relates to the mill’s safety program and maintenance work orders• Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval• Preparing and data entry of invoice batches for payment processing• Reaching out and responding to vendor related inquiries

Payroll related duties under the guidance of the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator:• Process accurate and timely payroll• Maintain payroll & benefits information, documents & forms• Calculate & prepare payroll remittance & reconciliations• Respond to payroll & benefit related inquiries• Manage WCB and short & long term disability claims• Prepare various reports upon request for supervisors and management• Prepare ROE’s & information for T4’s• Maintain confidential personnel files

QUALIFICATIONS:• 3-5 years previous payroll or administration experience is preferred• Accurate data entry skills and superior attention to detail• Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, requests and meet strict deadlines• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) and the ability to adapt to new computer software systems• Post-secondary education in payroll administration and general accounting knowledge is an asset• Effective organization and communication skills• Experience &/or training in Human Resource would be an asset
