Millar Western’s Whitecourt Wood Products Division is seeking an Operations Supervisor. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, this individual will work as part of a team dedicated to the cost-efficient, timely and safe delivery of logs to our Whitecourt and Fox Creek facilities. Duties will include coordinating harvesting, log haul, log loading, road maintenance and road construction programs; implementing aspects of annual and five-year development plans; implementing operational aspects of the Detailed Forest Management Plan; assisting with the development and implementation of budgets and strategic plans; and ensuring operations are carried out in an environmentally sensitive manner with a focus on sustainable forest management practices.

 The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in forestry combined with at least 5 years of operational experience. Above-average interpersonal, communication and organization skills are essential. A strong background in harvesting, log hauling and loading, road construction and associated regulatory approvals will be considered an asset, as will experience with ISO 1400 and SFI certification programs.
