Millar Western is looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals to work as part of a respected Woodlands team responsible for supplying fiber to our Whitecourt and Fox Creek mills while upholding progressive, sustainable forest management practices.

Each of the following positions starts April 29, 2019, and offers great development opportunities and career potential.

Silviculture Assistants – (2) 4-month term and (2)  8-month terms To supervise and oversee quality control of tree planting operations; assist with conifer-release spray programs and planting-stock quality monitoring; conduct various Silviculture surveys and permanent sample plot measurements.

Forest Protection Crew – (2) 4-month terms

To perform forest protection duties as part of our Fire Patrol unit; assist with harvesting, planning and silviculture operations including block and road layout, mountain pine beetle surveys, long-haul checks, quality control, GPS data collection, reclamation, data entry and saw work.

Roads Assistant – (1) 4-month term

Coordinate stream crossing and road inspection programs.  Assist with road maintenance activities and construction projects.

The ideal candidates: Candidates should be enrolled in, or graduates of, a post-secondary forestry or forest technology program. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills would be highly valued.  A valid Alberta Class 5 license is required.
