Our Hinton Pulp Division is seeking an individual with strong technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills to fill the following position:

FIBRELINE MANAGER

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the overall operations of the Kiln/Recaust, Digester, Brownstock, Bleach Plant, R8, Pulp Machine, and Lignin Plant operating areas. This role oversees department operations, optimizes business processes, and supervises departmental staff (area and mill coordinators). This position is also responsible for ensuring business processes are followed and improving departmental performance in terms of safety, production, quality, costs, environment, and maintenance.

Key duties:

  • Improve workplace safety through policy promotion and adherence, housekeeping efforts, overseeing employee training, and monitoring leading indicators
  • Develop processes and tools to drive continuous improvement, and plans to maximize manufacturing efficiency
  • Manage operating costs and increase return on assets
  • Ensure staff members and their departments adhere to and promote West Fraser values, culture, and operating philosophy
  • Develop an environment where employees can succeed and key positions have succession plans
  • Drive the culture of reliability using our business systems and ensuring focus and follow through
  • Ensure performance management is done consistently within our company process
  • Help manage the site strategic operating plan

The successful candidate must possess:

  • 5-10 years of leadership experience in a production environment (preferably in pulp and paper)
  • A relevant degree or diploma is an asset
  • A solid mechanical understanding and aptitude
  • A foundation in maintenance and reliability best practices
  • An understanding of budgeting, capital, and major maintenance expenditure processes
  • Be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form with all levels of the organization
  • Embody the West Fraser traits of Integrity, Respect, Humility, Hard Work, and Frugality
