About Edson, Alberta: Edson is a beautiful, pristine town in west-central Alberta located in Yellowhead County. The town has a population of 8,414 (2016 Municipal Census) and offers a full range of indoor and outdoor recreational and cultural facilities. Edson is strategically located on Highway 16, the Trans Canada Yellowhead Route approximately 180 kilometers west of Edmonton and only a short hour drive to world-famous Jasper National Park. 

Our Edson based Timberland operations have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, professional and experienced Purchased Wood Supervisor to join the team. The position would have a strong field presence and would be working with the Purchased Wood Manager to:

  • Procure logs as per our business needs (private land procurement, Industrial Salvage Procurement, and integrated operations)
  • Negotiate rates and develop contracts
  • Schedule deliveries
  • Ensure quality of logs meet our specifications
  • Ensure harvesting meets SFI expectations and DFMP expectations

In addition to purchased wood responsibilities, there will also be a requirement to supervise Contract Harvest Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and environmental values
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • 3-7 years of operational experience and basic knowledge of Purchased Wood Market Pricing is preferred
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to register with College of Alberta Professional Foresters, or College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists
