Millar Western’s Fox Creek Wood Products Division is seeking a Quality Control/Optimization Specialist. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of quality control in the Sawmill. He/she will be accountable for the performance and maintenance of sawmill optimization systems, ensuring the quality of lumber and assisting others with skill development relating to quality. Other responsibilities may include compiling, analyzing and preparing summary reports of data from trial runs, as well as helping to troubleshoot issues with machine center’s that may be affecting product quality.

The ideal candidate

Qualified applicants will have previous sawmill and/or lumber manufacturing experience, combined with a lumber grading ticket, be a safety-conscious self-starter, be familiar with computerized systems and possess strong troubleshooting skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively within a group and motivate others.
