Temporary Water Treatment Plant Operator - Work Wild

TEMPORARY WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The Water Treatment Plant supplies water to the mill and the town. Reporting to the Technical and Environmental Supervisor, this a coverage position expected to last 1-2 years in duration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Control and operation of the water and effluent treatment plant
  • Collect water samples from clarifier, river, and mill; complete tests according to standard operating procedures
  • Operate water and effluent treatment plant equipment (pumps, motors, etc.) and perform lockouts as required
  • Maintain daily logbook and test sheets
  • Perform tank watch as necessary
  • Maintain operation within environmental standards
  • Provide on the job advice and training to department personnel when required
  • Able to work a 4 on, 4 off shift schedule

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 completion or a GED
  • A Water Treatment Level 1 certification is considered a strong asset; the successful candidate will be required to complete, if not already obtained, a minimum of a Water Treatment Level 1 certificate within 18 months of service within the department
  • Physical ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift upwards of 50 lbs.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues as they occur
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computerized systems
  • Experience with environmental or chemical laboratory work considered an asset
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • A proactive, detailed oriented approach to work
